I realize the blog keeps changing appearance, but you will just have to deal with it for a while. I keep changing my mind about the header and the background, like I keep changing my mind about a lot things these days. What is up with that? I don’t know if it’s the weather or the exams coming up or my new hairdo, but something has definitely changed.
Today, I’m wrapped up in thick shirts and scarfs. June 1st is on Wednesday, but summer is nowhere to be found. It is grey and rainy outside, and I am so glad it is Sunday and I get to spend it inside with a cup of tea, biscuits and studying. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is on later tonight and that is all I look forward to right now. Well, that and my summer break which starts June 9th. Yay! Four exams to go and 11 days for summer to arrive and make Copenhagen picnic friendly. It will happen, I tell you!

I just got these. I haven’t had a pair of sneaks for years, but it felt like the right time to try it out again. They are very comfy and so much better than my plateaus for everyday use. Foot-win!

Today I’m at the Royal Library. Rikke, my loyal study buddy and good friend, left for work half an hour ago, and I’m slowly realizing that she is one of the primary reasons that I get anything done. She’s a very focussed girl and when she puts her mind to something she makes things happen.
Tonight I am going to some friends’ house for dinner. They just moved in together and I am excited to see how the. remodeling is coming along. Hopefully, we will pop a couple of bottles of white wine and smoke a million cigarettes while complaining about the lack of money in our accounts and worrying about exams – that’s the kind of conversation I need tonight. And some music would be nice too, after listening to people’s writing all day long.

Sebastian’s new job comes with a lot of perks, and tonight they are all going out to dinner together. He is ~~of course~~ paid for the hours they spend at the restaurant and gets a free meal on top of that. I missing having a job with free goodies. And there are still no news from the applications I handed out. In this case, I do not think ‘no news is good news’.
The upside of everything is that I actually find myself growing smarter from all this reading.

So, if you ever feel hipster-esqe in Copenhagen try this new brew. I am actually a fan. Plus, it’s the perfect pat on the back when you finish a paper on American politics. I am handing it in tomorrow and going to the bar for beers and celebration afterwards. Oh, summer break I can smell thy sweetness.

Exam time

I’m always surprised at how short a semester is. It is exam time once again and this time I’m starting with a paper on American politics. Yeah, I thought it would be an interesting paper to write, but I have seldom felt this uninspired by a topic. Worst part – I chose it myself. ‘The Rhetorical Presidency’ with an analysis of Teddy Roosevelt’s fireside chats and, hopefully, some sort of answer of how the bully pulpit has become the president’s most powerful tool. I am not close at all, unfortunately.
When I hand the paper in on Tuesday I have four exams left, and I think they’ll be much easier to get done since they’re sit-ins and there is no such thing as an internet connection or mobile phone anywhere near. I have not been the best of students this week, you know. Luckily, two of the exams are translation exams and cannot really be studied for. The two others, on the other hand, are quite a bit more difficult and will surely prove to be worthy of some hardcore reading.
In the mean time, the Danish weather is really easy to resist. Gray clouds roam the skies and I haven’t even thought about wearing shorts yet, and today, on the day of Copenhagen Marathon, I am pleased that I am not a runner. I still do not really understand how people feel that it is ok to shut down the entire traffic of the city so that a few hundred people can exercise. Maybe some signs or something to warn bike cyclists of the upcoming idiots in short, so an alternative route to school can be constructed? I am just brainstorming here. And boo hoo me, I am at school on a Sunday. The study hall has killed before, stay tuned and find out if it’ll strike again. And a nice Sunday to you all.

I’m leaving for Paris tomorrow. The latest Indiana Jones flick is on TV and Sebastian and we are enjoying our last night together before I leave. Yes, I am coming back in five days or so, but that’s just the way we do things around here; A proper goodbye every time someone leaves. I prefer it that way and he has learned to deal with it, I guess.

Packing status: shit.

Excitement level: through the roof!
